In collaboration with our sister events the Audax Alpine Classic, the Alpine Classic Extreme, and the Alpine Raid we are able to provide an all inclusive package of rides for your stay in Australia.
Audax Alpine Classic
Although 2010 will be the inaugural year for Semaine Federale, Audax Australia has been running the Alpine Classic since 1986. During this time it has become one of the most popular, if not to mention toughest single day event in the recreational cycling calendar. In fact last year it was voted the second most popular tourist attraction in Victoria behind the Great Ocean Road. Attracting over 2000 participants form Australia and overseas, the Alpine Classic is the largest single day Audax event. No mean feat for a club that is established in over 50 countries around the world including such cycling power houses as France, Spain, Germany, UK, Brazil, South Africa, Japan, USA and Canada to mention but a few. Alpine Classic Extreme - ACE
To mark the 25th anniversary of the Audax Alpine Classic a new route has been added to the event giving riders the opportunity to take on the ultimate challenge of Mount Hotham and the High Planes Road between Omeo and the sky resort Falls Creek. The distance has been increased from 200 to 250 and takes riders through some the Alpine regions most spectacular scenery following the Great Alpine road through the Victorian high planes.
Alpine Raid - "the thinking cyclists ACE"
If the thought of riding 250km with 4000mts of climbing in one day does not appeal to you, then consider the two-day option. Doing the ride as an Audax Raid gives you time to take in the stunning scenery at handlebar level while still taking part in a demanding event. Leave Bright on Sat 23rd Jan and travel via Mt Hotham to Omeo (111km). Overnight in Omeo before climbing to Falls Ck on the Sunday where you will regroup with the one-day riders and make your triumphant return to Bright (139km).
